Nathanael

Nominated by his wife, Rachael. Firstly, tell us a little bit about Nathanael:

Nathanael is a wonderful husband and brilliant dad, a faithful friend and a hard-working paramedic. At the height of the pandemic last year, Nathanael was mostly working nightshifts so that he could be around as much as possible during the day to help with home-schooling our 5-year-old and keeping our very busy two-year-old twins occupied! He never complained about how tired he was (he must have been exhausted!) - he was just happy that he could be around when we needed him. Nathanael is also a great friend - always ready to help or include others in our family adventures. It's hard not to love him!

How will you be celebrating Father’s Day this year?

We plan to be at our church in the morning and, weather permitting(!), we hope to relax in our garden with a BBQ afterwards.

When Nathanael has a minute to relax, you’ll find him:

Reading the newspaper with a freshly brewed cup of coffee.

If you had to describe Nathanael in three words, what would they be?

Dependable, strong, and selfless.

And finally, what does Father’s Day mean to you?

Father's Day means being thankful for all the brilliant men in our lives who are such wonderful dads - and letting them know how much they mean to us!

Marvin

Nominated by his wife, Alison. Firstly, tell us a little bit about Marvin:

Marvin is 46, an IT consultant, father of three, stepfather of two and a fabulous husband! Marvin hates DIY and gardening and would much rather spend his time with his family. He is an absolute car geek. He is a keen sports fan and loves getting out in the fresh air for walks, runs or bike rides.

Marvin’s aim in life is to protect and provide for his family, and he is kind, generous and always has our backs. Since lockdown we have been able to spend much more time together as a family, which we have all loved, though neither Marvin nor I enjoyed home-schooling that much!

Do you have a favorite Marvin memory or moment?

When Marvin met the elder girls for the first time. They loved him straight away. Another is at the birth of our children. He has always been a complete hands-on dad, from changing all the nappies to stories at bedtime - he is their world!

When Marvin has a minute to relax, you’ll find him:

Watching car reviews on YouTube or watching superhero films with the girls. He doesn’t have much downtime, so he spends it with the family.

If you had to describe Marvin in three words, what would they be?

Kind, funny, and caring.

And finally, what does Father’s Day mean to you?

Father’s Day is an opportunity to treat our fathers and husbands, and to say thank you to Marvin for all the care he has shown us throughout the year.

Paul

Nominated by his children, Charlotte and Matthew. Firstly, tell us a little bit about Paul:

As a family we have always been and continue to be incredibly close. We come as a little team and are always there for each other. Since we lost our mum, we have become even closer, like little peas in a pod! Our dad has always been so supportive over the years and it appears that this is never ending.

What’s your favorite memory of your dad, from your childhood?

We have so many wonderful family childhood memories; to pick just one is incredibly hard, however; we have one very special place in our hearts where we spent many very happy family holidays. Stoke Gabriel in Devon, on the edge of the River Dart. We would always stay in the same little cottage, whitewash walls with blue windows, with a covering of beautiful roses. Many summers we spent there; Dad would take us crabbing at the waterfront followed by us all going for a cream tea. These are precious memories we will never forget.

When Paul has a minute to relax, you’ll find him:

Most likely walking his cockapoo and furry best mate, Dylis around Langstone Harbour or getting muddy in the woods at Rowlands Castle! So, when he is relaxing, he can be pretty hard to find! If he’s not out getting lost in the woods, then he’s probably at home playing his guitar or painting. Dad loves music and we will often walk into the house to hear his speaker on full blast while he’s chilling in the garden with a nice gin and tonic.

If you had to describe Paul in three words, what would they be?

Dependable, active, and irreplaceable.

And finally, what does Father’s Day mean to you?

We would like to think that we let our dad know how much he means to us all year round, however, Father’s Day is a special time to let him know how much he means to us, and how appreciated he is. We don’t take him for granted and want to thank him for all the hard work and relentless effort he makes for us and our partners. We're looking forward to celebrating Father’s Day with a sunny BBQ at the beach hut.

Mick

Nominated by his son, Sam. Firstly, tell us a little bit about Mick:

He is just such an inspirational person, who drives me to do the best that I can in life. To add to that, I know that he will always support me in whatever path that I take. I believe that this makes him special.

Mick is quite the sports star - we’d love to hear more about his passion for running and cycling:

Running and cycling was something for him to do as a way for him to get fit, starting around 10 years ago as a hobby. He now competes within his age category as a triathlete, and he’s even been invited to a competition in Romania next year, to compete as a GB athlete!

When he has a minute to relax, you’ll find your dad:

When he’s not out cycling or running, I’ll find him sitting next to me whilst watching the football, supporting our team, Liverpool Football Club.

If you had to describe Mick in three words, what would they be?

An amazing dad.

And finally, what does Father’s Day mean to you?

Father's Day means a time for me to show my appreciation to the person who believes in me the most out of everyone (and obviously the same happens on Mother’s Day too!).

Mark

Nominated by Kate. Firstly, tell us a little bit about Mark:

Mark is such a great dad and he’s always doing everything and anything he can to look after us. He always goes out of his way to try and make things easier and as a new mum that makes so much difference!

This will be Mark’s first Father’s Day as a dad - how will you, Mark and baby Jack be celebrating?

We will be taking Jack out on an adventure. Most likely stocking up a flask of hot tea and our camping mugs and popping Jack in his carrier. Both Mark and Jack love getting outside.

When Mark has a minute to relax, you’ll find him:

We don’t have many minutes to relax at the moment with a 6-month-old, but when we do there’s a lot to be said for a beer and a curry.

If you had to describe Mark in three words, what would they be?

Kind, reliable, and funny.

And finally, what does Father’s Day mean to you?

Well, it’s our first as a little family! So, at the moment it means making new traditions and we can’t wait to celebrate!
