Love to Layer

One of the first things to consider is the temperature of where you’re departing from and your eventual destination. If it’s cold where you are now but travelling to a hot country or vice versa, layers are your friend. Start with a thin vest, then a light jersey top and finish with a cotton sweatshirt/hoodie and jacket that can be easily folded away. Cotton is an ideal choice due its high moisture absorption and breathable fibers to avoid the risk of overheating.

Layers can be done either way so if you’re starting from a hot country and travelling somewhere super cold, keep a small carry on to hand, filled with buildable layers to switch into. Most airlines allow one small bag on the plane, perfect for stuffing your extra items into.

The great thing about this is you can double up anything you don’t wear as a makeshift pillow to catch some z’s on the plane.

Style AND Substance

Airport dressing doesn’t have to center on comfort. There are plenty of ways to dress up if you want to be photo ready before you soar the sky. Monochrome is a great start, be it all black or in your favorite color. You can still wear your comfy joggers, wide leg pants and sweatshirts but look a little more put together by wearing tonal colors. If you’re a fan of funky T-shirts this can also be an ideal choice paired with soft, loose-fitting denim. You can be styled up without your outfit dragging you down.

If the above still doesn’t tickle your fancy, never underestimate the power of a dress. Keep it floaty and pair with snug tights or leggings that can be slipped on or off depending on the weather as you travel. A loose-fitting dress is perfect and can be accessorized to look vacation ready from the minute you step into the airport. Avoid anything tight or form fitting; a lot of time spent travelling consists of waiting around. To throw in a figure-hugging dress that you can’t stop adjusting will only make the experience slightly more uncomfortable.

Best Foot Forward

There is no greater pain than wearing the wrong shoe. Ever. You can be hot and flustered, drowning in unwanted layers but being strapped into non-supportive footwear can feel like climbing Mount Everest on a rainy day. If you’re not waiting in line to check in, you’re killing time at duty free until your flight is ready to board. Finding a seat can be tricky during peak times so you need to be prepared to be up and about. Comfortable footwear with correct support is essential so always go for flats. Almost all outfits look cohesive with a pair of sneakers, flat boots or soft bedded sandals. Trust us, your feet will thank you.

Feeling hot, hot, hot!

For those of you planning to bask in the sunshine, a stack of swimwear is absolutely essential. If you’re after something easy to throw on and dive in, swimsuits are your BFF. These one-piece-wonders require little effort for maximum style. At FatFace, all our swimsuits contain tummy control support, for a little confidence boost. Bikinis, swim shorts and tankinis are a great option for those who love to mix and match. By mixing a few matching sets you can create endless looks while keeping your suitcase light. If you want to limit your swim items to keep space for souvenirs and trinkets, try adding a few accessories. Floppy hats, sheer cover ups and kimonos can be worn day to day to maximize usage while also creating a whole new look with your favorite swim pieces. The options are endless, with a little clever styling, you can create tons of looks without overstuffing your luggage and focus on making memories.
