Craft along with the Joy Journal

February 22, 2021

The simple act of creating is so nourishing for the mind and soul; you have the calming process of creating, and then the sense of achievement and enjoyment you gain from the finished article - whatever it may be. It’s also a great way to keep the kids entertained, which most of us could use a little inspiration for at the moment! What’s more, being creative is super beneficial for your little one’s physical, mental, and social development.

Laura of the Joy Journal, in her kitchen.

We asked Laura of @thejoyjournal to hold a little craft-along on our Instagram and talk you through a simple and fun idea for kids (and adults!), to bring a little creativity into your day. In the tutorial video, Laura teaches you how to make your very own paper lantern to decorate your home with. It’s fun, pretty and easy to follow – you’ll just need a few basic tools and materials to get crafting.

YOU WILL NEED

  • Coloured card or paper
  • A ruler
  • A pencil
  • Scissors
  • A glue stick

Whether you save this for a rainy weekend, or use it as a fun home-schooling art class idea, we hope you enjoy this fun tutorial. We’d love to see your finished paper lanterns, simply tag @fatface so we can see your crafts!
